On Monday 29 April the International M&E Training and Workshop started. It is taking place until 3 May in Cuernavaca, Mexico.

Besides participating in the newly developed training on Adaptation M&E, participants exchange their experiences and advance their national Adaptation M&E development in the workshop.

Participants come from IMACCs 7 partner countries: Tunisia, South Africa, Indonesia, India, Grenada and Mexico.

WEBINAR Training for effective adaptation – taking stock after 3 years of experience on 30 April 2013

We are pleased to invite you to the discussion series on “Mainstreaming Adaptation – where do we stand?” (see overall programme attached). It begins with the webinar “Training for effective adaptation – taking stock after 3 years of experience” that will be held in two sessions, in French and English, and present the following issues:

  • GIZ/OECD- training “Integrating adaptation to climate change into development planning” – the state of the art in 2013
  • The training and its impact for the application of climate proofing from a CCA-practitioner’s perspective

The training has been developed on behalf of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development and has been further supplemented with support from the Federal Ministry of the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety.

Objectives

  • Share experience with regards to the availability and usability of climate information and services in concrete adaptation planning and implementation at (sub-)national levels.
  • Inform about the latest international discussion in the field of climate services.
  • Facilitate access to experts and peers from within the group of IMACC countries and beyond.

Guiding questions

  • What are the core challenges for effective use of climate information in decision making?
  • What derives from these challenges for climate information and service providers?
  • What derives from the challenges for decision makers and practitioners?
  • What are good examples with regard to overcoming some of these challenges?
  • What are examples of positive impact from better availability and usability of information?
  • Where do we have to improve information provision and integration into decision making processes?

Target group

  • Adaptation practitioners from national to local leves of government.
  • Climate information brokers.
  • Information and services producers at international and national level.

Format of discussion series
