How can climate risks be addressed in an integrated way? How can National Adaptation Plans be used efficiently to serve the NDC adaptation goals? How can additional private sector finance be mobilized for successful adaptation? And what are the lessons learned from pioneer countries?

On Monday, the 6th of November 2017 from 4 – 5 pm, these and other questions will be addressed in a Side Event in the German Pavilion (Bonn Zone) at the COP23 . The event entitled ‘Progress towards achieving the adaptation goals – Promising ways to tackle climate risks’ is organized by GIZ on behalf of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and will host speakers and panelists from partner countries and organizations.

The event aims at reflecting on the status quo of adaptation efforts that have been undertaken since the adoption and under the framework of the Paris Agreement. Insightful keynote speeches by practitioners and country representatives will be followed by interviews with adaptation experts presenting “adaptation stories” and discussing linkages and challenges that lie ahead in achieving the adaptation goals. The event will present early successes of adaptation efforts along the “climate risk continuum” and provide a space for showcasing examples of NDC implementation through the NAP process as well as for innovative finance and insurance solutions in the field of adaptation.

The documentation will be made available on https://www.adaptationcommunity.net/.
