Assessment of Dzuds in Mongolia

Mongolia is already experiencing significant impacts from climate change, including a rise in average temperatures by 2°C in the past 70 years.

One of the primary water-related climate hazards are Dzuds – severe winter conditions characterised by extreme cold, heavy snowfall, and a lack of accessible forage.

This technical report presents the methodology for analysing the probability of occurrence and severity of Dzuds in Mongolia as well as findings for the period 2024-2100.
