Mongolia is already experiencing significant impacts from climate change, including a rise in average temperatures by 2°C in the past 70 years. The country’s vulnerability is further exacerbated by its arid environment and uneven distribution of water resources, with regions like the Gobi Desert receiving little rainfall annually.
This report identifies the four most important hazards: droughts, floods, heatwaves and Dzuds. It presents the probability of occurrence and severity of these hazards under different climate change (SSP) scenarios until 2100 as well as potential adaptation measures.
To assist the replication of the analysis by practitioners, it describes the methodology of identifying these hazards, collecting data, and simulating their future probability of occurrence.
