Climate Change and Rural Development – Selected Resources

Rural development is strongly affected by the negative impacts of climate change through soil degradation, biodiversity loss, declining agricultural productivity and reduced ecosystem services. Those developments furthermore deteriorate conflicts over the use of natural resources.

If you want to get a better understanding of the nexus between climate change and rural development, have a look at this document: It provides relevant publications and websites that give insights into the topic. It includes an introduction into basic concepts, reference documents of the UNFCCC, websites with tools and databases and publications regarding the transformation of agri-food systems, climate change adaptation, Nature-based Solutions/Ecosystem-based Adaptation and pastoralism.

As it is a living document, we are always looking to complement it with other relevant publications. If you would like to recommend other sources that are not mentioned yet, feel free to forward us the link!
