Financing Human Mobility in the Context of Climate Change: Insights from the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States

The study Financing Human Mobility in the Context of Climate Change: Insights from the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States analyses options, modes, and instruments of financing HMCCC related projects in the Eastern Caribbean including public and private sector, donors, development partner and banks. Based on this analysis, concrete recommendations on funding options for HMCCC projects including outreach strategy, conditions of application, eligibility, and timeline have been developed. Several recommendations are proposed to enhance the financing environment. These include increasing awareness of HMCCC in the Eastern Caribbean, identifying and prioritizing best options for funding HMCCC activities through direct engagement with donors to nudge a more explicit connection and to encourage more support for HMCCC related activities and inclusion of HMCCC in national and regional funding mechanisms.  For example, the Sustainable Island Resource Framework Fund (SIRF) in Antigua and Barbuda should be nudged to include climate-induced mobility as a thematic area that is eligible for funding.
