Gender and Climate Change Adaptation in the NDCs – Policy Paper

The climate crisis, like so many important issues, cannot be tackled without taking into account gender-specific needs, concerns and capacities. Despite the widespread narrative of women as a vulnerable and affected group by climate change, their first-hand experiences make them important agents of change. Through an analysis of the gender data held in the Tool for Assessing Adaptation in the Nationally Determined Contributions (TAAN), gender considerations are mostly mentioned on a planning level and only some NDCs include gender-disaggregated impacts or gender-responsive budgeting approaches.
