Last week, the 5th Santiago Network Advisory Board Meeting (SNAB5) took place in Geneva. While the meeting advanced internal matters such as strategy and work planning, its broader significance lies in highlighting how the loss and damage (L&D) support architecture has taken shape and how it is evolving on the road to COP30 in Belém, Brazil.

As the 10th edition of the NAP Expo ended in Lusaka, Zambia, delegates from across the globe left with renewed momentum for accelerating national adaptation plans, strengthened by the launch of updated NAP technical guidelines and a week of rich exchanges on climate resilience.

As the world moves steadily toward COP30, the Fund for Responding to Loss and Damage (FRLD) and the Santiago Network are progressing their work.

GIZ, IISD & WWF developed a policy brief to support policymakers with practical recommendations on how to advance synergistic, just, and gender-responsive actions on climate and nature.

Ahead of this Triple COP autumn, GIZ, IISD & UFZ updated their thematic paper on legal agreements under the CBD and the UNFCCC.

GIZ, IUCN and IISD developed an e-learning course on the design and implementation of Ecosystem-based Adaptation (EbA) covering i. a. gender, governance, local and Indigenous knowledge, and biodiversity topics.

The June UN Climate Meetings (SB 60) for this year’s World Climate Conference (COP 29) were held from June 3-13, 2024, in Bonn. These negotiations brought together global actors to discuss urgent questions on climate change, necessary adaptation strategies, and their financing, thus setting the agenda for COP29 in Baku, Azerbaijan, this November.

In the run-up to the submission of the third round of Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), due in February 2025, the NDC Partnership and the UNFCCC Secretariat have launched a new online tool to help countries formulate their NDC 3.0 and promote synergies with other national policies.
