Human mobility in the context of climate change (HMCCC) is not gender-neutral. Existing inequalities shape who can move safely, who remains exposed to climate risks, and who benefits from adaptation and recovery efforts. Women and marginalised groups often face barriers related to unequal access to resources, decision-making processes, and mobility opportunities.

This brief summarises key findings and recommendations from the study Gender-Transformative Approaches to Human Mobility in the Context of Climate Change. Drawing on implementation experiences from Fiji, the Philippines, the African Union (AU), and the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), it highlights practical lessons for strengthening gender-transformative approaches to climate mobility governance.
