The realization of synergies between climate change adaptation and the conservation of biodiversity requires domestic policy coherence and joint action. Therefore, the technical brief prepared by the UNFCCC Nairobi Work Programme and the Least Developed Countries Expert Group (LEG) is aimed at CBD and UNFCCC country-level focal points and the technical staff of ministries involved in the planning and implementation of National Adaptation Plans (NAPs) and National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan Processes (NBSAPs). The technical summary presents a framework that highlights common elements in the adaptation and biodiversity planning process and provides insights into relevant case studies from different countries that illustrate key lessons learned and best practices. These could be applied or inspire the revision, formulation and implementation of the NAPs and NBSAPs, to promote synergies and efficient resource allocation.
