GIZ has developed the National Adaptation Plan (NAP) process country-level training in collaboration with the NAP GSP, UNDP, UNITAR and UNEP. It intends to assist multiple sectors at the country-level and constitutes the basis for a country upon which to strategize, steer and manage its NAP process.
In total, there are 19 training modules, which are organized in accordance with the NAP Technical Guidelines and range from preparatory and stocktaking work through to implementation and evaluation. The modules are taught interactively in the style of the Harvard Case Method and consist of particular learning objectives relevant to the NAP process. The target group of the training is diverse, comprising decision-makers and politicians responsible for the overall launch and steering of the NAP process as well as representatives from sectors affected by climate change such as infrastructure and agriculture. Depending on the background of participants, the duration of the training varies from ½ day for high-level decision makers to four days for technical experts.
NAP trainings have already been conducted in 19 countries (as of June 2016).
