From Concept to Impact: The Biodiversity Mainstreaming Journey under the CBD

The study shows how the concept of biodiversity mainstreaming has become a cornerstone of global biodiversity governance. It offers an overview of various entry points for mainstreaming biodiversity considerations into different thematic areas, such as in finance, policy planning cycles and monitoring frameworks, and discusses mainstreaming approaches in key sectors, i.e. land-use planning, forestry, infrastructure, and tourism. Case studies from Indonesia, Mexico and Thailand illustrate how biodiversity mainstreaming can be put into practice through national policy instruments and planning processes.

Gender Analysis of Climate and Disaster Risk Finance and Insurance in Madagascar

Madagascar is highly exposed to climate-related shocks, including recurrent cyclones and droughts, which disproportionately affect women due to entrenched social norms, high poverty levels, and limited access to land ownership and financial services. This report, commissioned by the Centre of Excellence on Gender-smart Solutions and conducted by Oxford Policy Management, examines how Climate and Disaster Risk Finance and Insurance (CDRFI) policies and programmes in Madagascar integrate Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI), and assesses whether existing frameworks effectively address differentiated vulnerabilities.

Inventaire des Initiaitves Existantes sur le Financement et l’Assurance des Risques Climatiques et de Catastrophes a Madagasikara

Madagasikara est l’un des pays les plus exposés et vulnérables aux risques climatiques, subissant régulièrement des catastrophes majeures telles que les cyclones tropicaux, les écheresses prolongées ou les inondations fluviales. Entre 2000 et 2022, plus de 60 événements climatiques extrêmes ont été enregistrés. Cette intensité devrait s’accentuer sous  ’effet du changement climatique, aggravant les pressions sur les écosystèmes, l’agriculture, les infrastructures et les populations déjà fragiles.
