Project 1 - Climate-sensitive Water Resources Management in Central Asia
Climate change is intensifying water-related challenges across Central Asia through glacier retreat, more frequent droughts and floods, and growing pressure on shared river basins. The project “Climate-sensitive Water Resources Management in Central Asia” supports Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan in strengthening regional cooperation and implementing climate-resilient water management practices. Through basin dialogue, improved monitoring systems, capacity development, and practical adaptation measures, the project enhances regional cooperation, strengthens water security and institutional capacities, promotes peace and stability, and supports the sustainable management of transboundary water resources.
Project 2 - Turning Climate Risk into Water Security: The G-CREWS Story - Grenada
The Climate-Resilient Water Sector in Grenada (G-CREWS) Project strengthens Grenada’s water sector against climate change while improving its management efficiency. Using an Integrated Water Resources Management approach, the project drives a comprehensive, multi-level transformation: As climate change intensifies water challenges, namely higher temperatures and droughts, erratic rainfall with heavy-runoff turbidity, and sea-level driven saltwater intrusion, G-CREWS increases climate-resilient storage, reduces water losses, and upgrades infrastructure to withstand new stresses. Complementary reforms in governance, regulation, economic incentives, and public awareness promote lasting changes in residential and commercial water-use behavior.
Project 3 - Water security for climate resilient cities in Peru – PROAGUA
The Project “Water Security for Climate-Resilient Cities in Peru” – PROAGUA (Nov 2023–Oct 2028) steers urban water management in Peruvian cities toward water security, taking climate resilience into account. It focuses on introducing instruments and incentives to improve governance, planning, and financing for the long-term assurance of urban water supply. It promotes the dissemination and replication of water security best practices in water utilities nationwide. It fosters business models with the private sector and develops dual vocational technical training and capacity building for water utilities’ operational staff.
